Do I need a Doctors Referral?

Physiotherapists are primary practitioners, this means you do not need a referral.

However, a referral may be necessary only if:

  • You have been injured at work and are covered under Workcover.

  • Your doctor has provided you with an EPC/CDM Plan

  • Treatment is covered under Department of Veterans Affairs

  • You have been involved in a motor accident and are covered by the TAC

Do we accept EPC/CDM plans and what is the cost?

We accept Enhanced Primary Care or Chronic Disease Management Plans from your GP.

For those eligible under the Medicare program we charge a $25 Gap fee payable at the time of the appointment. The Medicare fee is claimed by us electronically.

Can I claim a private health rebate?

We have a HiCaps machine onsite. Clients with "extras" can claim part of their fee on the day of visit, leaving only a gap fee to pay.

You will need to bring your health fund card on the day to claim on the spot. If you don't have your card, don't worry as you can claim this online with a receipt we can provide for you with all the details to claim.

What happens at my first visit with a physiotherapist?

Following an initial comprehensive assessment, a full objective examination and hands on assessment including functional testing, we will establish a differential diagnosis. You are encouraged to ask any questions you may have throughout the consultation.

Treatment may involve different ways of relieving pain, restoring function, flexibility and strength.

Hands on techniques may include soft tissue massage, mobilisation of joints and manipulation. Exercise prescription includes postural correction, strength training, balance drills and return to sport exercises.

At Lilydale Physio & Sports Medicine we believe in a collaborative approach. This may mean that with your permission, we may make contact with others involved in your care, ensuring you see the best possible person for your condition. We may refer on to a GP, Specialist or other health care provider if needed. Our Physiotherapists can also refer on for radiology when needed.

What should I bring to my first appointment?
  • A pair of shorts if its a lower limb condition

  • Your private health fund card either in card form or on the various apps

  • Any x-ray results, ultrasound, CT or MRI results that are relevant

  • A list of questions you may have

  • Details of your NDIS, Workcover, TAC or DVA claims.

Do you work with NDIS Participants?

We work with a number of NDIS participants and pride ourselves on providing quality care to everyone in the community.

Currently we can accept all Plan and Self Managed participants.

A number of our team have children who are Neurodiverse and therefore we are passionate about providing good care in an environment that respects sensory needs and client wishes.

Chirnside and Lilydale Physio & Sports Physio is an inclusive service who are committed to providing all of our clients, regardless of background or ability, the highest level of care.

Do you provide Women's Health?

We provide women's health at our Lilydale Physio & Sports Medicine site at 3/5-7 Clarke Street Lilydale.

Women's Health services include the treatment of Urinary and Faecal incontinence, Pre and Post Pregnancy Pain, DRAM, Painful Sex and general musculoskeletal conditions such as Sacroiliac joint and Hip pain.
